    Learn to Row Program

The Learn To Row Program is geared to beginners who have never rowed. A grounds-up approach in a comfortable atmosphere will have you rowing in no time. A huge part of rowing is “Team Work”, so remember you are not alone in learning this sport.  We encourage you to join up with a friend, meet new friends and give rowing a try.

The sport of Rowing takes time and dedication to establish great skills, but you do not need great skills to have fun. HGRRC strives to create a fun, educational, and social atmosphere, so that everyone feels welcome and enjoys themselves while learning the art of rowing.

Recreational Rowing Program

This program is aimed at novice rowers or members who want to enjoy rowing, without the full commitment to the training schedule of competitive programs.     Adaptive Rowing Program

The Haldimand Grand River Rowing Club is currently partnering with the Haldimand Association for Developmentally Challenged (HADC) in developing an adaptive rowing program.  The goal is to increase the accessibility of individuals to water sports, making our club inclusive for all.  This ambitious club will be host to one of eight Adaptive Rowing clubs across Canada.  HGRRC’s focus for this program is not to adapt the rowing equipment but have the instruction and learning techniques adapted to meet the needs of individuals. A  number of HADC staff members completed the club’s “Learn To Row Program” in 2005 and will be trained to aid in the implementation of this pilot project.  The club hopes to execute an adaptive rowing program in the 2007 season.

        Modified Rowing Program

This program was inspired during the 2005 rowing season. This is a recreational rowing program geared for seniors or those with low fitness levels and physical abilities. This program uses the T-11 touring quads which provide additional stability and a wider hull design which allows easier entrance and exit from the shell and balance while on the water. Rowing is easily modified to lower the amount of stress placed on the body. This is a great activity to gain muscular strength, flexibility and receive cardiovascular benefits. and can be done at any age. Crews for this program are formed based on physical capabilities and modifies techniques and lessons to accommodate individuals needs and abilities. Rowing is not for a select few, but all to enjoy at any age or skill level!
